2009 :: AUSTRALIAN NATIONALS :: SYDNEY

North Bondi dojo brought it home with 7 trophies in the 2009 Australian Nationals held on Sunday 1st of November 2009. A brave children's team performed well under enormous pressure and against tough opposition, winning two places in the kata division and two places in the full contact, knockdown kumite division.

Kids kata team: Alexander Danon, Wilson Dulieu, Hannah Danon (4th place), Jack Zwi, Dante Campagnaro (3rd place), and Gittel Dyce.

Kids kumite team: Wilson Dulieu, Alexander Danon, Dante Campagnaro, Ari Alster, Josh Fischl, Sender Dyce, David Blau, Matthew Blau (2nd place), Jordan Dulieu, Jonathan Edelstein (1st place), and Ethan D'Amico.

Mark Gluckman gave it his all in his first tournament, losing on a close-call decision. David Tockar, also in his first tournament, lost his one match fight on decision after a gutsy performance with some hard punches and speedy high kicks.

In her first tournament too, Heather Dulieu gave an outstanding kata performance against far senior grades;her hard work and efforts in preparation clearly paying off. She also brought home gold in her one match fight against a strong japanese opponent, going 3 rounds at full force in an exciting crowd-pleaser.

Another first place was awarded to Alexandra K for her kata performance; while David Solomovic placed second in the men's super heavyweight division, his solid punches and lethal mawashi geri having to give way to Steve Cujic's extensive experience.

Congratulations to everyone who participated and special thanks to those who assisted and supported the team.
